How much do senior pictures cost in Connecticut?

Short answer: in Connecticut, an independent professional senior session runs $350–$900, and premium studio packages land between $1,000 and $1,500+. The school's contracted yearbook photo is "free" — and worth exactly what it costs. Here's how to read the whole market so you know what you're actually comparing.

The four price tiers, honestly

The yearbook photo ($0–$50). One pose, one backdrop, ninety seconds. It exists so the yearbook has a face next to a name. Nobody frames it.

Budget mini-sessions ($99–$250). Fifteen minutes in a park with five other families in line behind you. You'll get a handful of images, usually lightly edited, often with print rights sold separately. Fine if a photo is all you need; disappointing if you wanted the photo.

Independent professionals ($350–$900). This is where most Connecticut families land, and where the value lives: real locations, multiple outfits, a photographer who directs every pose (nobody's teenager knows what to do with their hands — that's our job), and hand-retouched finals.

Premium studio packages ($1,000–$1,500+). Multiple locations and looks, studio plus outdoor, wardrobe styling, albums and wall art. Beautiful work — just make sure the number on the contract is the number you'll pay, because this tier loves add-ons.

The five questions that expose a quote

Two photographers can both say "$500" and deliver completely different things. Before booking anyone — including me — ask:

1. How many finished photos do I receive? Not "photos taken" — photos delivered, edited, yours to keep.
2. How many are fully retouched? Skin, flyaways, braces marks — and what does each additional retouched image cost? ($45–$75 each is typical when billed separately.)
3. Is a print release included? Some studios quote low, then charge per print forever.
4. Is there a planning consultation? Locations, outfits, and colors decided before the day is the difference between a session and a gamble.
5. Will my kid's photos be used in your advertising? Worth knowing before the shoot, not after.

What I charge, so you can compare

My Class of 2027 pricing is deliberately public and simple — three sessions, each one the same four numbers: time, looks and locations, finished photos, and fully retouched favorites. The Grad Session is $350 (30 minutes, 10 finished photos, perfect for cap & gown and announcements), the Senior Session is $525 (60–90 minutes, 20 finished photos), and the Signature Senior is $895 (two locations, 30 finished photos, 8 fully retouched favorites). Every tier includes the planning consultation, a print release, and one thing most photographers won't put in writing: your senior's photos are private by default — never used in my gallery or marketing unless you authorize it.

One piece of timing advice

Whatever tier you choose and whoever you book: Connecticut's September and October dates — golden hour, foliage, before-the-weather-turns — are the first to go every single year. If your family wants fall senior pictures, the booking window is now, not October.
