What Makes a Great LinkedIn Headshot — Flash of Grace

What makes a great LinkedIn headshot

Your headshot is often the first impression you make — on a recruiter, a client, a future partner. In a competitive market like New Haven and Hartford, a sharp, confident headshot quietly tells people you're the real deal before you've said a word. Here's what separates a great one from a forgettable one.

Approachable and credible at once

The best headshots strike a balance: warm enough that people want to work with you, confident enough that they trust you to deliver. A relaxed, genuine expression and engaged eyes do more than any pose. My job is to direct you there, so it never feels forced.

Light does the heavy lifting

Flattering, intentional light is the difference between a snapshot and a professional portrait. I shape it to suit your face — clean and crisp for a corporate look, or softer and more editorial for a personal brand.

Keep wardrobe simple

Solid, muted colors photograph best — dress one notch above your industry's norm. Skip busy patterns and loud logos; you want the focus on you, not your shirt.

Refined, never overdone

Good retouching is invisible. I clean up distractions and keep your skin tones true and natural, so you look polished and current — still unmistakably yourself, never plastic.

One headshot, or a whole brand?

If you just need a strong LinkedIn image, a single headshot session is quick and easy. But if you're building a presence — a website, social, press — a personal branding session gives you a whole library of headshots and lifestyle images in one sitting. And for teams, I shoot consistent on-site headshots across Connecticut and the Boston–NYC corridor.
