Best places to take photos in New Haven and along the shoreline

One of the first things clients ask me is, "Where should we shoot?" Living and working in East Haven, I've photographed all over the New Haven area — and the right location can make a session. Here are a few of my favorites, and when they're at their best.

Lighthouse Point Park — New Haven

Minutes from East Haven, the historic lighthouse, the carousel, and the water make this one of the most romantic spots on the shoreline. It's stunning at golden hour, when the sun drops over the harbor — perfect for couples and families.

East Rock Park

For sweeping views of the city and wooded trails, East Rock is hard to beat. In fall, the foliage from the summit is some of the best in the region — a rich, cinematic backdrop that suits my style perfectly.

Wooster Square — spring only

For a few weeks in late April, Wooster Square's cherry blossoms turn the whole neighborhood pink. It's one of the most beautiful settings in New England, but the window is short — if you want blossoms, we plan ahead.

Edgerton Park & Yale's campus

Edgerton Park's gardens and lawns photograph beautifully in every season, especially under golden autumn light. And for something timeless and editorial, Yale's gothic architecture gives us backdrops that feel straight out of a film.

The shoreline — Savin Rock & Branford

Savin Rock in West Haven and the Stony Creek Trolley Trail in Branford offer beach, boardwalk, and marsh views — relaxed, natural settings just a short drive down the coast.
